It’s important as a community that we continue to invest in sporting facilities in Timaru to attract and retain children and adults in sport.   Netball SC prides itself on being a grassroots sport and the Aoraki Park Master Plan has been developed with the premise that the existing layout of the Park is still considered effective for the current users, as well as potential for more users and community events in the future.   

Netball SC is supportive of the proposed approach detailed in the Plan to optimise the site with as little impact as possible of the existing assets.  The desire for greater and improved administration and official’s spaces across a number of users will enable future affiliation fees and overheads for Netball SC is kept to a bare minimum.  Collaboration of sporting codes will have benefits to all participates across the district.

The upgrade of the facilities will not only future proof the game of netball, but it will attract regionally and national events which in turn will support the economic wellbeing of our district. 

Investment into the park is an investment in future generations to make sure all children and young adults continue to have the opportunity to participate in sport now and into the future.
